The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) mulls the inclusion of air purifiers and dehumidifiers in the list products regulated by the agency.
DTI Undersecretary Ruth Castelo told Konsyumer atbp the agency plans to include these products in the mandatory list of electronic/electrical appliances being monitored in view of rising demand Castelo said products sold in the market should match the description on efficacy, quality and safety being advertised by the manufacturer.
Thus, these products should bear proper labelling of manufacturer’s details.
Castelo said product inclusions and specifications should be strictly complied with. Labelling should also warnings on the hazards of the product to give a complete information to consumers.
According to Castelo, the DTI is preparing the equipment as well as its capability for testing these products.
A department administrative order making it mandatory for manufacturers and retailers to comply with Philippine National Standards is being drafted.
