Pascual noted it is crucial to strike a balance between the needs of workers and the sustainability of  enterprises in implementing the P35- increase in the daily minimum wage of workers  in NCR.

Pascual though acknowledges this increase is a timely response to the escalating costs of living, saying it reflects government’s  shared commitment to improving the quality of life for our workforce.

“We welcome the recent minimum wage increase in the NCR as a significant step towards enhancing the welfare of our workers. By aligning with the latest regional poverty threshold, the wage increase signifies our dedication to equitable growth and economic inclusivity,” Pascual said.

The Regional Tripartite Wage Board on July 1 approved the  increase of the daily minimum wage of NCR workers from P610 to P645 for the non-agriculture sector and from P573 to P608 for the agriculture sector and other specified establishments in NCR. The adjustments take effect July 17.
