Trade Secretary Cristina Roque yesterday assured there will be no price increase on products served during Noche Buena.
“We will stick to the prices of Noche Buena products for now to give consumers (options) that fit their budget,” Roque said in a virtual press conference.
She said she has started talking to manufacturers to ask them not to increase their prices.
Roque said she is also expected to discuss with the Department of Trade and Industry’s Consumer Protection and Welfare Group the release of the price guide on Noche Buena products.
Target release is by November.
DTI regularly releases Noche Buena Price Guide for the information and guidance of consumers.
Last year, of the 240 stock keeping units (SKUs) from 22 manufacturers, 185 SKUs reflected an increase in their prices; 21 decreased their prices while 34 had no change.
The Noche Buena list consists of 12 categories: ham, fruit cocktail, cheese, keso de bola, mayonnaise, sandwich spread, pasta/spaghetti noodles including elbow and salad macaroni, spaghetti and tomato sauce, and all-purpose Cream.
