DTI, Bank of China sign MOU

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) signed yesterday with the Bank of China   a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on investment facilitation.

The MOU was part of the investments briefing held in Beijing on the sidelines of the state visit of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Meanwhile, Philippine businesses are exploring with their Chinese counterparts partnerships in mining, energy , agriculture and waste management, according to George Barcelon, president of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).

Barcelon, who is among the 40 delegates accompanying  Marcos, told ANC yesterday roundtable events organized by the DTI today will tackle possible collaboration on nickel processing, renewable energy such as solar, export of fruits as well as waste management.

According to Barcelon, there is a huge potential for the Philippines to tap tourism from China, which has since relaxed its travel restrictions to its citizens.

Barcelon also noted the Philippines hopes to get some investments in manufacturing as companies move their factories in electronics and light industries. – Irma Isip
