DPWH completes road projects in Cagayan Valley

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) yesterday reported completing the construction and rehabilitation of 73.65 kilometers of national, secondary and tertiary roads in Cagayan Valley Region.

Based on the report, DPWH said the completed road projects, with a combined cost of P2.68 billion, are composed of 21.18 km. of national road, 19.87 km. secondary road and 32.60 km. tertiary road.

These new and improved roads are providing socio-economic impact in the region by facilitating faster, safer and easier access of locals to health, education, tourism, government and social services, according to Mark Villar, DPWH secretary.

Aside from road projects, DPWH Region 2 implemented the construction, improvement and rehabilitation of 425.4 lineal meters of bridges and a total of 40 flood-control structures which include dikes, seawalls, river control, revetment, river walls and drainages mains.

Also undertaken in Cagayan Valley were 34.74 km. of tourism road improvement projects under the Tourism Road Infrastructure program amounting to P821.51 million; 28.56 km. roads leveraging linkages of industry and trade amounting to P935.55 million; 19.85 km. farm-to-market roads amounting to P241.62 million; 11 school building projects with 33 classrooms costing P94.86 million; seven disaster-related rehabilitation projects costing P28.96 million; and four Tatag ng Imprastruktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad projects worth P54.27 million.
