DOF, ADB assess COVD impact on business

THE Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Department of Finance (DOF) are conducting a rapid survey on companies in the Philippines to assess the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on businesses.

The ADB said in a Tweet yesterday the survey takes 30 minutes to complete.

“ADB is conducting a rapid survey on companies in the Philippines to assess the impact of COVID-19 on your business and explore possible assistance to firms devastated by COVID-19,” the multilateral agency said in the posted survey.

In a Viber message yesterday, Carlos Dominguez, DOF secretary, confirmed the survey will be for big companies.

“To develop an appropriate and targeted program to assist the various sectors of the economy negatively affected by the fallout of the response to the contagion,” Dominguez said when asked about the end-goal of the new survey.

“Response is voluntary, but if companies want to help us develop a good program for their industry, they should seriously consider completing and submitting the survey,” he added.

The ADB was among the first multilateral development institutions to provide assistance to the Philippines’ coronavirus response efforts with its delivery of a $3 million grant for the government’s purchase of medical supplies for its frontline health workers.

The Philippines and the ADB also signed an agreement for a $200 million loan last Tuesday on additional financing for the government’s efforts to provide cash assistance to poor and vulnerable households that have been affected by the quarantine measures imposed to contain the COVID-19 outbreak.
