The Department of Energy (DOE) proposes labelling regulations that will help the market make informed choices on energy-efficient products through energy labels at the point of sale.

The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) in a statement yesterday said the Patrick Aquino, director of the Energy Utilization Management Bureau (EUMB) presented the salient points of the agency Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) proposing the  Prescribing the Guidelines of the Philippine Energy Labeling Program (PELP) for Compliance of Importers, Manufacturers, Distributors, and Dealers of Electrical Appliances and Other Energy-Consuming Products (ECP).

“The PELP is a vital initiative aimed at promoting energy efficiency and environmental sustainability by providing the consumers with the information about the energy performance of the various ECPs through the labels,” Aquino said.

The PELP was named a model RIS training output under ARTA’s Empowering Next-Generation RIA Champions Mentorship (ENRICHMENT) Initiative,  a capacity-building initiative of the Authority

ARTA is mandated under the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018  to conduct regulatory impact assessments  before implementing any proposed regulation. This is to avoid adding redundant and unnecessary regulations that would burden the people.  – Irma Isip
