Farmers can now sell their produce through a digital platform developed to connect them with buyers through an efficient and transparent end-to-end market-based system.
DELIVER-e was launched yesterday by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–together with the Department of Agriculture (DA), private sector partners, farmer cooperatives, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez said the main goal of DELIVER-e project is to increase food
production and ensure supply stability for basic necessities and prime commodities through new business models.
Lopez said this will support micro, small and medium enteprises, farmers, and farmers’ cooperativesby helping them to sell their products directly to consumers.
At the proof-of-concept stage, the platform was able to sell 260 metric tons of vegetables and fruits. The platform has recorded more than P7.15 million worth of transactions, and again, this number has grown. Just recently, the platform sold four tons of oranges and watermelon produced by farmers in Region 2.
The DTI is poised include beneficiaries of the One Town,One Product (or OTOP) Next Gen and Go Lokal! programs into the platform, as well as the agri-processors in DA’s E- KADIWA program, together with DTIs Diskwentro Caravan.
