The Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) collections in September posted double-digit growth from its year ago level, data released by the agency showed.
According to the agency’s Facebook and Twitter posts yesterday, the BOC collected P58.9 billion in revenue in September 2019, up by 12.4 percent from the P52.42 billion collection for the same period last year.
Cumulatively, BOC revenue has reached P477.55 billion from January to September, an increase of 9.2 percent compared to the collection in 2018 amounting to P437.13 billion.
Meanwhile, the BOC in a press statement yesterday said its human resources management division (HRMD) is set to complete the filling-up of 1,000 plantilla positions targeted for this year.
As of September 27, the HRMD has filled 547 plantilla positions nationwide with 899 applications either for deliberation or awaiting schedule for interview.
The BOC said it continues to hire new customs personnel to bolster its capabilities in enhancing trade facilitation and providing a better overall port user experience to stakeholders.
With the current rate the hiring process is going, the BOC said it will definitely achieve its target of strengthening its manpower in order to effectively perform its mandate of securing borders nationwide and to collect the proper revenue due government.
