CROPS DAMAGE FROM TYPHOON BISING

Damage to the agriculture sector by the combined effects of Typhoon Bising and the southwest monsoon has been estimated at an initial cost of P300,000 so far, the latest data from the Department of Agriculture (DA)’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center showed.

The DA-attached agency said on Wednesday that as of 2 pm on Tuesday, the total cost of damage was equivalent to 13 affected farmers in 25 hectares of affected areas and 29 metric tons of volume loss — all from the rice sector, and covering only the Calabarzon area so far.
