Unilever’s Kabisig Summit brings upskilling and tech capabilities and access to sari-sari store owners as it visits barangays across the country.
Recognizing the contribution of micro and small enterprises to its business, Unilever continues to roll out its Kabisig Summit.
The online and in-person tailored training sessions in the Kabisig Summit are created for sari-sari store operators to help improve business management skills, increase sales, protect their business, and enhance their livelihoods. Main areas of intervention are skills training, business resilience, and access to technology, helping sari-sari store owners embrace digitalization and improving key processes.
Based on a 2021 commissioned study on the Kabisig Summit program, 91 percent of attendees are women, 76 percent reported increased earnings and savings and 79 percent reported business growth.
AG&P Industrial participates in coastal cleanup
AG&P Industrial took part in the #SeaTheChange 2024 International Coastal Cleanup along the shores of San Andres Uno, Bauan, Batangas.
AG&P Industrial volunteers, client representatives from INEOS, Wood, and Kent-Ampol, local government units from Barangay San Andres Uno and Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Bauan, private groups, and other non-government organizations worked hand-in-hand to remove waste and restore the San Andres coastline on September 21.

JPMorganChase CEO visit PH
Financial services firm JPMorganChase reiterated its ongoing investment and commitment to its Philippine clients and business operations.
Jamie Dimon, chairman and CEO, who was in Manila, led a roundtable event with business leaders and members of the US-Philippines Society and discussed global trade and investments, technology and cybersecurity.
JPMorganChase has been doing business in the country since 1961 and maintains a shared service center with over 20,000 employees providing strategic support to the bank’s global operations.
Unlocked bares winners
The second edition of Unlocked, the highly anticipated national competition designed to promote integrated circuit (IC) design and semiconductor innovation, concluded on September 20 with the announcement of this year’s champions and runners-up and the conferment of lifetime achievement awards to Diosdado “Dado” Banatao and Dr Teresita Fortuna.
Unlocked, hosted by Xinyx Design at the Tanghalang Haribon in Insular Life Corporate Center, Alabang, brought together the brightest undergraduate engineering minds from universities across the Philippines to showcase cutting-edge ideas aimed at revolutionizing the tech industry.
The event, with the theme “From Problems to Possibilities: Building Tomorrow’s Cities Today,” emphasized the capability of homegrown innovation to address urban challenges and drive the future of the high-technology industry.
Named 2024 Champion in the Unlocked Innovation Challenge was the Technological University of the Philippines (Manila) for their entry “LiverScan+: An Automated Detection and Diagnosis of Focal Liver Lesions through AutoML-Based Triphasic Contrast-Enhanced CT Image Analysis Using Jetson Nano”. The proposal won P70,000 for the five students who worked on it.
First runner-up was Colegio de Muntinlupa for their “Texto: Real-Time Audio-Visual Speech Recognition and Transcription using Multimodal Deep Learning Algorithm for the Hearing Impaired’’ entry, which won P20,000.
Second runner-up and winning P10,000 was the Pamantasan Lungsod ng Maynila for their “Unmanned Amphibious Robot in Aiding Post-Typhoon Heavy Flooding Response Using LoRa-based Communication and YOLOv5’’ entry.
Pru Life UK wins Four Golden Arrow award
Pru Life UK received the coveted Four Golden Arrow award from the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) at the AseanCorporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) Golden Arrow Awards recognition ceremony held on 19 September in Pasay City.
The leading life insurer earned 119 points in the 2023 ACGS assessment, a marked improvement from the company’s scores in previous years.
To encourage companies to exceed local regulatory requirements and adopt higher standards of corporate governance, the ACGS evaluates companies on key governance aspects, including shareholder rights, fair treatment, stakeholder engagement, transparency, accountability, and the effectiveness of the board, while benchmarking against international best practices.
Pru Life UK strives to make insurance more inclusive by constantly innovating and developing new products to serve the financial protection needs of all Filipinos. A new area that the company is currently exploring is Takaful or Islamic insurance, which is aligned with the priorities of the Insurance Commission and the national government. Security Bank wins Technology Excellence Award
At the Asian Technology Awards 2024, Security Bank was honored for Technology Excellence for Enterprise Software due to its new enterprise Operational Data Platform (ODP).
The awards ceremony, organized by the Asian Business Review, took place on September 5 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The platform enables the Bank to move data in real time and provide customers with the information they need through various channels, including all-new apps. This facilitates hyper-personalization and better data management using advanced technologies like data streaming and change data capture.

Creating lasting impact
Sun Life Foundation led by Kristine Dianne Millete continues to roll out its two flagship programs: Sun Pera-Aralan and Sun Life Barangay Health Stations.
Sun Pera-Aralan is a financial management program created in partnership with AHA! Behavioral Design that aims to increase financial self-efficacy among public school teachers.
The Sun Life Barangay Health Stations is an initiative in partnership with Health Futures Foundation, Inc. to provide more communities with access to primary healthcare in far-flung areas of the country. Every barangay health station constructed implements a community-based health and wellness program to equip the local health workers with the right knowledge and practice to provide care.
Last year, seven of the centers were equipped with diabetes corners to kickstart the initiatives on diabetes awareness and prevention to help address the issue of rising cases of the disease in the Philippines.
Through these initiatives, along with many other programs, the Sun Life Foundation touched 464,000 lives in 2023,.
