New bamboo supply, treatment facility
Base Bahay Foundation, Inc. (BASE), a global leader in bamboo construction, has inaugurated a new bamboo treatment facility located in the Sustainable Eco-tourism and Environment-based Innovations Demo (SEED) Farm in Polomolok, South Cotabato, in partnership with the Mahintana Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering sustainable and resilient communities in South Cotabato.

The inauguration ceremony marked the culmination of plans set in motion during the groundbreaking event in December 2023, where a memorandum of agreement was signed for the construction of the treatment facility and model houses.
A key highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between BASE and Polomolok local government for the construction of 120 housing units. The project will be executed in phases, starting with the construction of 12 housing units or six duplexes, including two model houses.
The newly inaugurated Polomolok bamboo treatment facility is the fourth of its kind in Mindanao and the seventh in the Philippines. As a hub for bamboo treatment, processing, and production, it will supply treated bamboo poles essential for building sustainable housing, initially supporting the Polomolok’s Bamboo Village initiative. Additionally, it will serve as a learning center for those interested in exploring the full value chain of bamboo.
The new facility will provide sustainable livelihoods for at least 50 workers and local farmers in its first year of operations.
