GCash garners Telco to Ace Financial Services Award

Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr. will be the featured speaker at the “Up Close and Personal” business forum organized by the World Trade Center Metro Manila (WTCMM) on June 18 at the WTCMM exhibition center, Pasay City.

Sanofi employee volunteer program
Sanofi Vaccines in the Philippines and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), National Capital Region — Field Office (NCR-FO) have formalized their partnership for an employee volunteering program for Sanofi employees, allowing them to use their volunteering hours to help and engage with disadvantaged and vulnerable sectors in DSWD residential care centers and facilities.

Kicking off the partnership, Sanofi handed over employee donations of clothes, toys, and school supplies during the partnership signing, which DSWD will distribute among the facilities and residential centers under its care.
PwC NZ specialist tackles GenAI
“Over the next couple years, we’re going to see GenAI embedded into every thing that we do.” This is predicted by Scott McLiver, partner and Asia Pacific leader in Generative AI (GenAI) at PwC New Zealand, during his recent speaking tour in Manila.

The audiences for his series of informative sessions on GenAI were business leaders from the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) during its 2nd MAP Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Summit, investment professionals from the CFA Society Philippines, as well as PwC Philippines’ partners and directors.
McLiver’s presentation focused on GenAI and how it can be harnessed to optimize business performance and efficiency. He described it as a “digital brain” that is capable of absorbing vast amounts of knowledge, identifying patterns and forming relationships between data, just like human brains can.
PwC Philippines has also been leveraging GenAI in its operations while helping clients and stakeholders do the same to unlock new opportunities for growth and innovation.
FedEx appointment
Federal Express Corp. announced the appointment of Sandeep Shahi, as vice president, information technology in Asia Pacific.
Shahi will drive the company’s technology operations in Asia Pacific.
Shani started his career in Germany with SAP AG before joining the logistics industry to lead digital transformation and the adoption of digital solutions playing a key role in the modernization of integrated IT architectures.
Climate Catalyst competition winners bared
Impact Pioneers Network, a first-of-its-kind impact investing network in the country, hosted the Climate Catalyst Startup Pitch Competition, where nine early-stage startups presented their climate innovations, namely: Hive Energy Philippines, Sinaya Corp., Dewaste Solutions, Rezbin Waste Technology Inc., LITHOS Manufacturing, Galansiyang Inc., FiveDOL Upcycling Corp. (LimaDOL), The Aquaculture Group, and Young Farmers Club of Zambales Inc.
The competition culminated in awarding Hive Energy Philippines with a grand prize of P100,000, technical assistance, business mentoring, and investment readiness assistance.
Sinaya Corp. placed 2nd and won P50,000, in technical assistance and business mentoring, while Rezbin Waste Technology Inc. ended in 3rd, winning technical assistance and business mentoring from the Network.
The pitch competition reaffirmed the Network’s commitment to accelerating investments into climate action in the Philippines.
The event also featured a panel discussion with Filipino climate startup leaders from Agro-Digital PH, Magnus Renewables Tech Corp., and Suds Sustainable Pods
