‘Puso in Paris 2024’ champions Filipino athletes’ grit, glory at the Olympic Games Paris 2024

The best Filipino athletes head to Paris hungrier for Olympic gold more than ever. Following Hidilyn Diaz’s feat in breaking the Philippines’ gold medal drought, the next-generation Filipino Olympians are raring to add a few more golden wares to the country’s Olympic vault.

Smart Communications Inc. goes behind the scenes looking into the preparations of the Philippines’ elite Olympians in the mini-documentary series — ‘Puso in Paris 2024’. The four-part series opens with the Philippines’ Golden boy of gymnastics — Carlos Edriel ‘Caloy’ Yulo. This will be followed by the stories of Filipino boxers Eumir Marcial, Nesthy Petecio, Aira Villegas, who brave through blood, sweat and tears to punch their way to the top of the podium. Rounding up the second episode are Tokyo silver medalist Carlo Paalam and first-time Olympian Hergie Bacyadan. The third episode looks into the preparations of first-time Olympians Vanessa Sarno, Elreen Ando and John Ceniza and how they’re upholding the legacy set by Hidilyn Diaz for Filipino weightlifters. The series wraps up with world-class pole vaulter Ernest John ‘EJ’ Obiena and his pre-Paris competition schedule where he continuously sets the bar higher to rewrite his Olympic experience.

Yulo, the 24-year-old prodigy from Malate, Manila, is gunning for redemption in Paris 2024. This is his second shot at Olympic glory following his breakout stint at the Tokyo games.
In the upcoming Paris games, 22 warriors will bear the Philippine flag as they battle for supremacy among the world’s best.

MVP firms invest in child rights advocacy

Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) conducted a four-day training to strengthen its commitment to embed Child Rights and Business Principles (CRBP) in its core operations, organized in partnership with UNICEF, the Ateneo Human Rights Center (AHRC) and with participation of PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications Inc.

AHRC facilitated the training sessions that included comprehensive modules on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), child labor, safe working environments for parents, and community impact assessments.

GCash, Manila Water partner to streamline payment

Manila Water has entered into a direct bills payment partnership with GCash.

The direct integration in GCash is expected to improve further and streamline the payment experience for millions of Manila Water customers.

GCash users also have the option to pay their Manila Water bills on credit or installment using the GCredit or GGives payment features, helping them meet payment deadlines in case they do not have the funds yet.

“GCash and Manila Water will work closer together to make the lives of Filipinos more convenient by giving them access to a secure bill payment platform with financing options suited according to their needs,” said Ren-Ren Reyes president and CEO of GCash mobile wallet operator G-Xchange, Inc.

With the Manila Water agreement now in place, GCash hopes to encourage more utilities and other essential service providers in the country to join the cashless ecosystem.
