NGA 911 opens head office

AI for all

One of the Aboitiz Foundation’s flagship initiatives, the Elevate AIDA (Artificial Intelligence Data Annotation) Training Program, is now extending its reach to more women in Isabela City, Basilan.

Aboitiz Foundation president Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar, Isabela City, Basilan Mayor Sitti Djalia-Hataman, and Connected Women co-founder Ruth Yu-Owen launch the Elevate AIDA Training Program which aims to empower women and promote inclusive growth in Basilan. The ceremony was witnessed virtually by the women and mothers in Isabela City, Basilan who are the program’s recipients.

As one of 18 local government units (LGUs) participating in the program implementation, this effort builds on past successes in the province, aiming to transform lives through digital upskilling.

Over the next three weeks, 100 underprivileged and underskilled women will have the opportunity to gain essential digital skills and thrive in virtual work environments.

Facilitated in partnership with Connected Women, the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), and the LGU of Isabela City, the program is dedicated to empowering women from diverse backgrounds, including mothers, persons with disabilities, and senior citizens to bridge economic disparities and foster inclusive growth.

AIM lends its Aboitiz Tech Space as the training facility for this program. This state-of-the-art technology hub provides an inclusive and conducive learning environment for onsite and hybrid modes of program delivery, ensuring participants have access to cutting-edge resources.

Centered on the theme of ‘Inclusive Entrepreneurship’, over 200 participants from 20 countries and territories gathered in the Philippines at Youth Co:Lab Summit 2024 to celebrate and highlight the critical role of young entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds in driving sustainable and equitable economic development and in advancing the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

DHL Express, BPI join forces

DHL Express has signed an agreement with the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) for the bank to reduce its annual greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from shipping documents by 90 percent through DHL Express’ GoGreen Plus service.

The GoGreen Plus service, a global initiative by DHL, is a significant step towards a sustainable future. It focuses on transitioning from traditional jet fuel to Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), an alternative produced from sustainable feedstocks, including used cooking oil and food waste.

This program is a key part of DHL Group’s sustainability goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Shopee Bayanihan delivers aid

Shopee, together with SPX Express, recently delivered relief supplies to communities affected by the recent eruption of Mt. Kanlaon.

Shopee Bayanihan provided aid for the disaster victims in the municipalities of La Carlota, Bago, La Castellana, and Pontevedra, delivered with the help of its logistics partner SPX Express. Twelve barangays, consisting of 2,000 calamity-stricken residents, received food packs, water, and face masks to address their most pressing needs.

Shopee worked hand in hand with GMA Kapuso Foundation and Caritas Manila in calling for donations via the Shopee app. Shopee users are able to provide help by purchasing donation vouchers that directly went to the partner humanitarian organizations.

Toyota conducts reforestation, livelihood devt in Siniloan

Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP), expands its nature conservation efforts with its upland tree planting in a 50-hectare adopted area in Siniloan, Laguna.

TMP president Masando Hashimoto spearheads volunteers in planting 5,000 native tree seedlings.

The company recently mobilized a group of volunteers to plant 1,000 native tree seedlings.

Fifty-six volunteers representing TMP’s workforce, GT Capital Holdings, Inc., Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Community Environment and Natural Resources Office Sta. Cruz, Laguna, and the People’s Organization of Siniloan ascended to the uplands of Barangay Magsaysay in Siniloan that is part of the Sierra Madre Mountain Range.

In its five-year implementation, TMP shall provide upfront financial compensation to the People’s Organization of Siniloan for every hectare that the local members will nurture, monitor, and maintain.
