Forging medical alliances

Taipei’s Wanfang Hospital signed two separate agreements with local hospitals.

Wanfang and the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center (CGHMC) signed memorandum of understanding  to enhance cooperation in medical research and clinical practice.

The agreement was formalized by Wanfang superintendent Dr. Tsan-Hon Liou and Dr. Samuel Dee Ang.

Wanfang Hospital signed an MOU with Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, represented by Dr. Wenceslao Llauderes aimed at to foster collaboration in medical training, research, and patient care, paving the way for innovative healthcare advancements.

The agreements were formalized on July 26 on the occasion of the visit of the visit of Wanfang executives aimed to strengthen medical collaborations and share innovative healthcare practices with the Philippines,

A significant event during the visit was the symposium “Innovations in Healthcare: AI, Precision Medicine, and Beyond,” held at Seda Vertis North Hotel. In collaboration with Taipei Medical University, the symposium featured pioneering presentations on AI in medicine, digital histologic image analysis, AI in cardiology, minimally invasive surgery, deep learning for osteoporosis screening, cryotherapy for endobronchiallesions, chemo hyperthermia treatment for bladder cancer, management of rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis, HIV initiatives and programs, and comparative studies in bile duct repair.

STT Cavite 1 Data Center achieves Tier III design certification 

ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Philippines (STT GDC)announced that the STT Cavite 1 data center has been awarded the Uptime Institute Tier III Certification of Design Documents (TCDD).

This marks a significant milestone in the Philippines’ technology and capability within the global digital infrastructure landscape. It also underscores the company’s commitment to delivering world-class data center infrastructure and solidifies its trajectory towards becoming an industry leader.

The TIER III certification involves rigorous assessments of a data center’s design and construction. Unlike TIER I and TIER II, a data center certified with Uptime TIER III Constructed Facility Certification does not permit shutdowns during maintenance or replacement.

The certification provides reassurance the stated level of resilience of the critical infrastructure has been validated on site to meet the stringent requirements of the Uptime Institute, making it an ideal choice for organizations with mission-critical applications and demanding uptime requirements.

“The Uptime Institute’s TCCF certification for STT Cavite 1 marks an achievement for us in the Philippines, showcasing our nation’s growing expertise in the data center industry,” said Carlo Malana, president and CEO of STT GDC Philippines.

Championing MSME, youth entrepreneurship

PLDT and Smart Communications Inc.  recently equipped over a hundred micro, small and medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and young entrepreneurs with digital skills and online solutions during the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) — Misamis Oriental’s MSME One Expo 2024, a three-day event designed to empower and showcase enterprises in the province.

In collaboration with TikTok Philippines, PLDT Enterprise and Maya Philippines, the initiative aims to accelerate the digital transformation of business owners in Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental, by enhancing their skills in content creation and amplifying their presence ine-commerce platforms like TikTok Shop.

The online entrepreneurship training is part of PLDT and Smart’s eBizNovation program that aims to leverage digital technologies to develop and improve the lives and livelihood of communities across the country.

Xiaomi donates smart devices, school supplies

Tomi Adrias, head of Xiaomi Marketing Philippines presents the donated school supplies to Principal Marilou Solis and Sir Michael Macabasag.

Xiaomi Philippines and nonprofit organization World Vision participated in this year’s Brigada Eskwela activities. The company donated Xiaomi smart devices, while its employees and select members of the Xiaomi Fans Club volunteered and fixed up classrooms at a local public school in Batangas province.

Last July 13, the school inaugurated its “Xiaomi-Powered Room,” which has the latest Xiaomi devices that are set to enhance students’ learning experience in the coming school year. The donated devices and electronics include Xiaomi TV A Pro units, Smart Cameras, Standing Fans, and Xiaomi Vacuum cleaners. The brand also gave school supplies, backpacks, and classroom chairs.

In addition to the donation of essential devices and supplies, representatives from Xiaomi and World Vision volunteered in fixing and maintaining the school’s classrooms for the start of the new academic year later this month. Xiaomi employees as well as select members of the Xiaomi Fan Community renovated rooms, painted walls, ceilings, and doors, and cleaned up the schoolyard.

Super Typhoon Carina families avail of Ariel Philippines’ free laundry services in Save5 Tambunting

In aid of restoring normalcy to the lives of families affected by Typhoon Carina, Procter and Gamble’s Ariel launched the “Cycles of Care” community program to provide relief by offering free laundry services.

In partnership with Save5 Laundromat and Beko Washing Machine Brand, the multi-day event served over 13,000 families who needed clean clothes, beddings and blankets for their homes.

“Through Ariel’s “Cycles of Care” free laundry services, we are helping affected families restore normalcy in their lives and homes by providing access to clean clothes and beddings that were stained and muddy from the floods. This is especially needed by those without access to clean water and electricity after the typhoon. Ariel Laundry Detergent is great at stain removal and is a trusted laundry detergent for washing machines,” said Ralph Morales, Ariel Philippines brand director.

Ariel Philippines collaborated with Save5  Laundromat to activate 100 Save5 branches in this relief program. The partnership recorded over 27,000 washing machine cycles and  over 216,000 kgs of stained, soiled and muddied clothes washed and cleaned using Ariel Laundry Detergent across the participating branches.

P&G also stepped up as a Force for Good in the community by donating its trusted health and hygiene products such as soap, shampoo, and diapers to affected cities, barangays, and evacuation centers.
