Cities boost tourism with Philip’s lighting solutions

Signify has successfully completed two lighting projects that have brought sustainable and energy-efficient lighting solutions to the cities of Roxas and Dapitan in the Philippines.

The installation of new Philips LED, Smart, and Solar street lights from Signify demonstrated how Signify’s Green Switch program aims to provide clean energy to cities, as solar lighting reduces carbon emissions while minimizes the need for extra power stations.

Mang Inasal cited for marketing excellence

Mang Inasal took home six awards — one Gold, two Silver, and three Bronze –   at the Marketing Excellence Awards 2024, held at Shangri-La the Fort, Manila.

Mang Inasal’s awards included Gold for #MangInasalAt20: The 20th Anniversary Digital and PR Campaign (Excellence in Anniversary Marketing); Silver for Mang Inasal Creators’ Circle (Excellence in Influencer/KOLs Marketing) and National Halo-Halo Blowout (Excellence in Customer Engagement); and Bronze for MAS Juicy Campaign (Excellence in Integrated Marketing).

Mang Inasal Marketing head Allan Tan and the Mang Inasal Marketing Team were awarded with Bronze in the Marketing Leader of the Year and Marketing Team of the Year categories, respectively.

Mang Inasal emerged as a finalist in 11 categories at the 4th Marketing Excellence Awards, organized by Marketing-Interactive and judged by top marketers from across the country.

EV charging station at WTCMM

The Manila Exposition Complex (MEC) partnered with EVOxCharge to introduce a new electric vehicle (EV) charging station at the World Trade Center Metro Manila (WTCMM). 

The charging station will be open to the public, ensuring all EV owners benefit from this cutting-edge facility.

As part of a five-year agreement, MEC will provide designated EV parking slots at WTCMM, offering convenient access for electric vehicle owners. The charging station, supplied, delivered, and installed by EVOxCharge, will feature a 7kW double output EV charger, equipped with real-time monitoring and remote access capabilities through EVOxCharge’s advanced web backend platform.

The EV charging stations will offer a seamless experience for EV users through the EVOxCharge mobile application, which facilitates easy digital payments and usage monitoring. MEC will maintain oversight of the station’s usage through access to EVOxCharge’s dashboard, ensuring that the facility meets the needs of its users.

Shopee Bayanihan delivers relief goods

Through its disaster relief aid program, Shopee Bayanihan, the platform donated relief goods to key cities that were severely affected by the typhoon such as Mandaluyong, Bulacan, and Parañaque.

Shopee and its logistics partner, SPX Express together delivered 8,000 canned goods, 2,000 kgs of rice, 4,000 liters of water, 2,000 packs of noodles, and 5,000 packs of biscuits to affected communities. With the support of former Councilor Charisse Abalos-Vargas, Shopee employees also volunteered their time to distribute these relief goods to residents of Barangay Harapin Ang Bukas in Mandaluyong City, under the guidance of Barangay Chairman Ricky Ogbac.

Shopee also empowered its users to provide support for Typhoon Carina victims by purchasing donation vouchers for Caritas Manila, Gawad Kalinga, GMA Kapuso Foundation, and UNICEF through its e-commerce platform. 

3 Filipinas receive Women in STEM scholarships

Three Filipina recipients have been announced for the Women in STEM scholarships, awarded under two programs: the Asean-UK SAGE (Supporting the Advancement of Girls’ Education) Program and the British Council Women in STEM Scholarships. Both scholarship schemes aim to address gender disparities in access to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.

These scholars are for the Asean-UK SAGE: Maria Andrea Kristina Onglao,  MSc Environmental Data Science and Machine Learning, Imperial College London and  Mikaela Gail Santos,  MSc Biotechnology (Healthcare Biotechnologies), University of Bath; and for the British Council Women in STEM program; Laravill Lanohan,  MSc Biotechnology (Sustainable Biotechnologies), University of Bath.

Each recipient will receive a fully funded opportunity to complete a master’s degree at prestigious universities in the UK.
