Megawide secures Landers Aseana contract

Megawide Construction Corp. recently secured the contract to construct the newest Landers Store in Aseana City.

Landers Aseana is a 18,710.91-square meter development  inside Aseana Business Park in Parañaque City and will be Megawide’s fifth undertaking for the Landers brand with Southeast Asia Retail Inc.  after the latter’s membership-shopping outlets in Alabang, Muntinlupa City; Balintawak, Quezon City; Arcovia, Pasig City; and Otis, Manila.  

Megawide will utilize its proprietary brand of precast technology in buildings

Orica Ph launches scholarship program

Orica Philippines, a leading provider of commercial explosives and blasting systems,  announced the commencement of its inaugural scholarship program in collaboration with the University of the Philippines College of Engineering (UP COE). Through this effort, scholarships will be granted to seven aspiring engineering students to help them complete their education. 

The signing of the contracts and handover of the scholarships was held at the UP Department of Mining, Metallurgical, and Materials Engineering. 

“At Orica Philippines, we’re dedicated to nurturing the potential of young minds to shape a brighter tomorrow. Our partnership with the University of the Philippines is a milestone in our commitment to foster growth and drive positive change, not just within the engineering sector in the Philippines, but on a globalscale,” said Gordon Wallace, Orica Philippines country head.

A memorandum of agreement (MoA) between Orica and the UP Department of Mining, Metallurgical, and Materials Engineering in November 2023 that led to the creation of a special scholarship program for select mining engineering students. 

Aboitiz Foundation advances digital education

Aboitiz Foundation partnered with Huawei Technologies, UnionDigital, and GoDigital Pilipinas with the signing  of an agreement which aims  to enhance digital education across the Philippines. 

Huawei Technologies has pledged a donation which will be used to purchase laptops for students and teachers in selected public schools. 

GoDigital Pilipinas, in collaboration with local government units, will identify these schools and ensure that the technology reaches those in greatest need.

This partnership underscores the collective commitment of each organization to bridge the digital divide in education and to foster a learning environment that empowers both educators and students with cutting-edge technology.

FEU High School, YouthLed pioneer Sibika Hub for NCR

Youth Leadership for Democracy (YouthLed) officially launched its first and only SIBIKA Hubfor the National Capital Region in FEU High School (FEU HS), a student-centered educational institution for junior and senior high school in the country, last March 15. 

This establishes the institution as the central hub for civic education and platform forthe Filipino youth in the region to participate in civic engagement activities.

YouthLed, a joint project of the United States Agency for International Development and The Asia Foundation, introduce the hub as a centralized resource, network, and community hub on civic education and engagement established in high schools.It aims to enhance civic education and engagement among Filipino youth to strengthen participation in democratic governance and positive development.

FEU HS will be an avenue to allow different stakeholders from the government, private sector, civil society, and the youth sector to collaborate on initiatives relevant to civic education engagement. Aside from the institution, there are seven more SIBIKA Hubs for various communities nationwide.

Through the FEU HS Sibika Hub, youth in NCR will be able to access other YouthLed-supported initiatives such as #DemocracyEveryday video series, Sibika.ph, Democracy Talks, and Project Citizen.

Kicking off the hub’s activities, FEU HS conducted its first Democracy Talk, a series of learning sessions and platform for the youth to discuss and understand emerging issues that involve them.
