SM’s Shop&Share for Education Program Enriches Lives of 12,000 Filipino Students
The SM Store, with the support of its customers and in collaboration with SM Stationery (SSI), SM Foundation, and World Vision, recently distributed back-to-school kits to 12,000 grade school pupils across more than 70 public schools nationwide. In Cebu, 1,350 students from Mandaue City Central School, Mandaue City SPED Central School, Opao Elementary School, and Umapad Elementary School received these essential supplies. The turnover activity complements the upcoming opening of SM Store’s 76th location at JMall Mandaue.
The relaunch of SM Store’s Shop & Share for Education program has enabled customers to directly support underprivileged students by purchasing back-to-school kits.
For every minimum single-receipt purchase of P3,000 at participating SM Stores, shoppers can contribute to a child’s education by buying a school kit for just P100.
Partnership for reforestation

Aboitiz Group is partnering with the provincial government of Cebu for a large-scale, multi-year reforestation and watershed recovery project which will start with its joint efforts for the greening of Mananga-Lusaran River Project.
CarbonPH Project is the first proposed large-scale multipartite reforestation and watershed recovery partnership initiative between the Aboitiz Group and Cebu province.
Aboitiz Group president and CEO/Aboitiz Foundation chairman Sabin Aboitiz on Thursday signed the memorandum of understanding for CarbonPH, together with Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia, acting Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia and Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas, Jr’s representative Vice Mayor Richard Francis Aznar during the Cebu Investments and Tourism Forum held at the Bai Hotel Cebu in Mandaue City.
As a symbol of the long-term partnership and the Aboitiz Group’s deep commitment to the province, Governor Garcia received an acacia sapling from Aboitiz during the MOU signing. The acacia tree is known for its resilience, strength and ability to thrive in challenging environments.
A major component of CarbonPH is the reforestation of the Central Cebu Protected Landscape, encompassing a total land area of around 29,000 hectares.
CarbonPH will also boost biodiversity, protect endangered species, and absorb carbon dioxide, helping fight climate change.
Bossjob expands services in Bicol
Bossjob is bolstering its expansion efforts in the regions in the Philippines following its successful events in the Bicol region, bringing job opportunities to connect job seekers and hiring managers outside the National Capital Region (NCR).
Bossjob’s significant strides in Bicol include signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI). This agreement aims to streamline recruitment processes for MNCCI’s 500 business members and provide job opportunities to locals. The event, held at the Sundaze Events Center in Naga City, was attended by Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion, local government representatives, and MNCCI officials.
Bossjob secured five strategic partnerships at The Oriental Hotel Legazpi. These partnerships with the Albay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Albay Information and Communications Technology Association, Southern Luzon Technological College Foundation, Inc. , Southern Luzon Technological College Foundation Pilar, Inc., and Southern Luzon Technological College Foundation Pio Duran, Inc., are designed to enhance recruitment processes and create job opportunities for the community.
Aboitiz Football Cup ’s boldest season
The Aboitiz Football Cup (AFC), Aboitiz’s longest-running grassroots football league, officially launched its 24th season on August 22 at The Outlets at Pueblo Verde, marking a significant return to Cebu and an exciting nationwide expansion with legs in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Hosted by the Aboitiz Foundation, this year’s AFC will kick off with an opening ceremony in Cebu on September 14, in partnership with Aboitiz InfraCapital, Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines and the Central Visayas Football Association with support from AboitizPower’s Thermal Group and AdventEnergy.
The Cebu tournament will continue on succeeding weekends, leading up to the closing ceremony in February 2025.
The AFC will see regional festivals in Tarlac, Batangas, and Davao, hosted by Aboitiz InfraCapital and its business units AIC Economic Estates and Apo Agua. Additionally, the top two teams from these regions will have the opportunity to participate in the special exhibition match in Cebu to cap off the season.

This season, the AFC proudly introduces the “Wasteless Campaign,” a sustainability campaign in collaboration with Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines Inc. (CCBPI). The collaboration integrates CCBPI’s “Tapon to Ipon: Basta Klaro, Panalo!” initiative to promote environmental stewardship by encouraging the collection and recycling of clear PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottles of any brand at select drop-off venues.
Aid to Pampanga
One Meralco Foundation (OMF), the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), with Tulong Kapatid, the consortium of companies and foundations led by Manny V. Pangilinan, brought relief packs to residents of Apalit, San Simon, and Macabebe in Pampanga who were affected by the recent southwest monsoon intensified by Super Typhoon Carina.
One of the mayors of the communities benefiting from the relief efforts, Macabebe Mayor Leonardo Flores, thanked the Foundation and its Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan for ensuring that residents of their coastal town were among the 300 families who received relief packs.
OMF collaborates with local government units and national agencies to implement disaster response initiatives to help communities within and beyond Meralco’s service areas.
