P&A Grant Thornton names two new partners

Professional services firm P&A Grant Thornton has admitted two new partners effective July 1, 2020. The two new partners are Elano Marcelo from Business Process Solutions (BPS)/ Outsourcing and Nikkolai Canceran from Tax Advisory and Compliance.

Marcelo first joined P&A in 1995 in the Audit & Assurance Division and later moved to other endeavors. He returned to P&A in 2017 to join the BPS Division where he was tasked to manage the staff augmentation engagements and concurrently leads its Critical Support Unit.

Presently, Marcelo is the executive vice president and managing director of P&A Grant Thornton Outsourcing. Hearned his accounting degree from Colegio de San Juan de Letran and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Canceran was a director in P&A Grant Thornton’s Tax Advisory and Compliance practice before joining the partnership. Canceran began his professional career in the firm’s Audit and Assurance division in 2007; he later joined the Tax Advisory and Compliance division in 2008. He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from Far Eastern University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Holcim Philippines appoints new leaders for plants, logistics

Holcim’s plant in Lugait, Misamis Oriental is now led by former production manager Arnold Pepino, who went to Romania and Austria to learn best practices under the LafargeHolcim Group’s Learning Across Borders program.

Edwin Villas was appointed as the senior vice president for logistics after serving as officer-in-charge of the department since 2019 concurrent to his role as vice president for sales for Greater Manila Region and South Luzon. As officer-in-charge of logistics, Villas successfully steered the team in delivering distribution and road safety targets. He previously held senior sales leadership roles and served in procurement and internal audit.

Bobby Garza, vice president for operations of the Holcim’s Lugait, Misamis Oriental plant, will lead the Norzagaray, Bulacan facility. Garza steered the Lugait plant to be recognized as among the best in the region and the LafargeHolcim Group. He also championed people development and local talent succession in the company.

Taking over Garza as vice president of operations of the Lugait plant is Pepino who started his career in Holcim Philippines as a cadet engineer in 1996. Over the years, he moved to different roles and projects in production, process and manufacturing excellence.

CIS Bayad Center new CEO

CIS Bayad Center, Inc., the biggest and widest multi-channel payment platform in the Philippines, has named Lawrence Ferrer as its new chief executive officer (CEO) and president.

Ferrer brings with him a wealth of experience and solid expertise honed from more than two decades of immersion in the fields of telecommunications, financial technology, and banking.

Throughout his career, he has championed and supported game-changing innovations such as Smart Money, Smart E-Load, Smart Padala and PayMaya, being used by many Filipinos today.

As the new CEO and president, Ferrer said he aims to steer the company towards continued expansion and digitalization. “A new world order is taking shape and digital innovation is imperative. As the most trusted payment authority in the country, it is our mandate to serve the ever-evolving needs of our customers. We will continue to advance our onsite-to-online platform, ensuring that they have a seamless and meaningful payment experience.”
