The Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA), Aboitiz Land, and Aboitiz Foundation inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on February 19 for a shared commitment to addressing critical aspects of environmental sustainability, livelihood programs, and disaster response.
The partnership, spearheaded by Aboitiz Land, recognizes the role of organizations in sustaining ecosystems and livelihoods, emphasizing the importance of promoting biodiversity and responsible environmental practices.
Environmental sustainability is a cornerstone of the memorandum, symbolizing a shared commitment to preserving the diverse ecosystems of the Philippines. Leveraging the expertise and manpower provided by PCGA alongside Aboitiz’s resources, the partnership aims to implement initiatives that safeguard clean surroundings and promote sustainable practices.
The collaboration extends its impact to livelihood programs, aiming to empower local communities. By leveraging the PCGA’s grassroots reach and Aboitiz’s corporate social responsibility initiatives, the partnership seeks to enhance economic well-being through skill development programs and sustainable economic activities.
Handwashing facility to improve students’ health

Malayan Insurance Co. Inc. together with World Vision donated a hand washing facility to Wenceslao Trinidad Memorial National High School in Laurel, Batangas last December 1.
The washing facility–equipped with a steady water supply, faucets, a sink, drainage system, and a shed to ensure that it can be used all year-round will encourage the 1,889 high school students to practice hand hygiene and lower the risks of disease and illness.
This initiative is aligned with the insurer’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
The turnover ceremony was attended by Malayan Insurance Vice chairperson Yvonne S. Yuchengco, Malayan Insurance chief sales officer Jun Cotoco, World Vision program manager Douglas Chua, and School Officials of Wenceslao Trinidad Memorial National High School.

High-quality, efficient USD surplus cash investment
Manulife Investment Management and Trust Corp.(Manulife IM Philippines) recently launched another first-in-the-market strategy, the Manulife Global Money Market Feeder Fund which is a unit investment trust fund (UITF) that aims to generate competitive US dollar money market returns to better preserve capital.

DISCON 2024 set in May
The Rotary International District 3830 of the Philippines has announced its upcoming District Conference (DISCON) slated on May 10 and 11 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila.
A much-awaited annual gathering of Rotarians, RI District 3830’s DISCON 2024 will have for its theme “Forging hope. Taking flight”, which conveys its heightened commitment to the Rotary Theme 2023-2024 “Create Hope in the World”.
The two-day event will feature a number of activities including a Rotary showcase, leadership and learning sessions, fellowships, recognitions, and entertainment numbers. It targets about a thousand participants comprising Rotarians from the District, Rotaractors (members of youth organizations dubbed Rotaract Clubs created by Rotary International), dignitaries, local and international speakers, and other guests.
