Two global construction and engineering contractors have been shortlisted out of five companies that initially submitted bid proposals for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the Alsons Power Group’s planned 105-megawatt (MW) San Ramon Power Inc. (SRPI) coal-fired power plant in Talisayan, Zamboanga City.
The plant will provide baseload power to Zamboanga City and nearby areas.
Preliminary engineering and design work isexpected to begin within the fourth quarter of 2019 while commercial operations are set to commence in 2023. Once operational, the plant will play a crucial role in providing baseload power to Zamboanga City and stabilizing power supply in the Zamboanga peninsula.
The SRPI plant’s shortlisted EPC biddersare Northeast No.1 Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd. (NEPC) — a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Group; Shandong Electric Power Construction Company (SEPCO III) — a subsidiary of Power Construction Corporation of China.
Shenyang City, China- based NEPC was founded in 1951 and has been engaged in major power projects in China, Mongolia, Iraq, Turkey, and the Philippines. SEPCO III founded in 1985, is headquartered in Qingdao City, China and has been involved in key power projects in China, Nigeria, India, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Morocco, Bosnia and Herzegovinaand various South East Asian countries.
