Caltex will roll out another round of fuel price hikes early Thursday, marking its second price adjustment this week.

Other retailers typically move prices only once a week.

Effective 6:01 am on July 17, the company will raise pump prices by P0.20 per liter for gasoline, P0.35 for diesel and P0.20 for kerosene.

These follow price hikes implemented on Tuesday, July 15, when Caltex added P0.35 to gasoline, P0.70 to diesel and P0.50 to kerosene.

The Tuesday hikes bring total increases for the week to P0.55 per liter for gasoline, P1.05 for diesel, and P0.70 for kerosene.

While modest on their own, the midweek adjustments set Caltex apart — it remains the only major fuel retailer in the country that updates prices twice a week.

Its cumulative hikes also remain below those of most other  competitors, which

raised prices on Tuesday by P0.70 for gasoline, P1.40 for diesel and P0.80 for kerosene.

This week’s increases come on the heels of two straight weeks of price rollbacks. But on a broader view, the trend remains upward.

Since January, pump prices have climbed by: P9 per liter for gasoline, P11.35 for diesel and P1.85 for kerosene.

Consumers continue to feel the pinch, especially diesel users, who have seen the steepest year-to-date hikes.

Department of Energy data showed that average pump prices in Metro Manila from July 8 to 14 stood at: P52.40 per liter for RON 91 gasoline, P53.20 for diesel and P72 for kerosene.
