Third telco DITO Telecommunity Corp. is targeting to hit over 2 million subscribers by yearend following the recent commercial launch in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Dennis Uy, DITO chairman and chief executive officer, said the company’s current subscriber base has reached close to half a million, barely two months since it launched its mobile services in Visayas and Mindanao as well as selected areas in Luzon in March.
“Network optimization has been happening at full speed. Tower and infrastructure rollout (is) unabated despite the pandemic to ensure our subscribers …continue to enjoy top notch experience — speed and service,” Uy said in a virtual press briefing yesterday.
Rodolfo Santiago, DITO chief technology officer, said half a million subscribers only covers 54 cities and municipalities “ and with the addition of 46 to more than 100 cities and municipalities, we expect that this (number) will drastically increase.”
Santiago said the company is targeting to get 30 percent of the market dominated by Globe Telecom Inc. and Smart Communications Inc. with around 150 million combined mobile subscribers.
Adel Tamano, chief administrative officer of DITO, said the company expects a significant increase in sales with the launch in NCR, considered the country’s the biggest market.
Last March 8, 2021 DITO reached 16 cities and one municipality in Metro Manila.
DITO is present in 100 cities and municipalities and is available in more than 3,000 stores nationwide, covering 29 million Filipinos.
Prior to DITO’s NCR launch, DITO had already opened close to 2,000 stores in various areas nationwide, including four DITO Stores in Cebu and Davao as well as online via Shopee and Lazada.
For initial entry in NCR, DITO is offering from May 17 to June 30, 2021 25GB of high-speed data for 30 days along with free unlimited texts to all networks, unlimited DITO-to-DITO calls, and free 300 minutes of calls to other mobile networks for only P199.
