The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA said the agency targets to cut down to 10 minutes the issuance of business permits this year, according to director-general Secretary Ernesto Perez.
Perez said at the Economic and Ease of Doing Business briefing in Manila yesterday, ARTA targets to follow the best practice on business permits of Singapore.
He said some agencies and local government units (LGUs) have significantly reduce their processing times to an hour since the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Act took effect in 2018.
He said ARTA has also been able to file charges against officials that violated the EODB and secured conviction of at least five officials.
Perez said ARTA also recorded 98.75 closure rate of 15,898 out of 16,099 EODB-related complaints and concerns received by the agency.
At present, 9 LGUs have fully digitized their process through electronic Business One-Stop Shop (eBOSS) system of EODB and seven more are pending evaluation.
The 9 LGUs saw a collective increase in revenue collection for the periods of 2021 to 2022 : cities of Quezon, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Marikina, Manila, Navotas, Lapu-Lapu and Cagayan De Oro. Revenues of these cities climbed 7 percent to P23.32 billion in 2022 from P21.72 billion in 2021
Perez said 518 out of 1,634 LGUs have reported automation.
