BOC breaches April goal

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) exceeded its collection target in April despite the restrictions placed in the National Capital Region (NCR) Plus last month, data released by the agency showed.

According to the BOC, it surpassed its goal in April by 4.2 percent or P2.08 billion to P51.277 billion against the its P49.2 billion target.”

The collection includes additional revenues from the Tax Expenditure Fund collection of P121 million and Post Clearance Audit Group collection of P13.65 million for April 2021,the BOC said in a Facebook post yesterday.

BOC also saw its revenues jump by 49.06 percent from P34.4 billion a year ago . In April last year, most parts of the country were under stricter lockdown.

Based on the preliminary report from the BOC-financial service, 11 out of the 17 collection districts surpassed their April 2021 collection target: Port of San Fernando, Port of Manila, Manila International Container Port, Port of Iloilo, Port of Tacloban, Port of Surigao, Port of Zamboanga, Port of Davao, Port of Subic, Port of Aparri and Port of Limay.

The BOC said it has been exceeding its monthly revenue collection target since January.

BOC has collected P200.46 billion in the first four months of the year target of P183.17 billion, surpassing the goal by 9.4 percent.

“This year’s quadrimester collection is also higher by P20.72 billion or 11.5 percent compared to 2020,” the BOC said. – Angela Celis
