Motorcycle taxi operator Angkas is keen on filling in the gap in public transportations once operation resumes.
George Royeca, Angkas chief transport advocate said, said the company is preparing all of its bikers for the potential return in operation, but the number of riders would still depend on the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Diseases.
But during the pilot test that ended last March 23, 2020, Angkas had 23,164 riders in Metro Manila, 4,500 in Cebu and in 925 in CDO.
The other two motorcycle taxi operators, Joyride and Move-it had about 20,000 riders and over 6,000 riders respectively.
Royec said 60 percent of the workers are mandated to physically go back to work but only 40 percent public transportation that is available to them.
The IATF has endorsed to the House of Representatives Committee on Transportation the request of the National Capital Region’s local chief executives to continue the pilot study of motorcycle taxis.
