Agriculture firms Bounty Agro Ventures Inc. (BAVI) and Cargill have been aggressive in the retail business to push sales.
BAVI in a statement said it has started selling live chicken through its official rolling store, Chooks-on-the-Go where it has been selling ready-to-eat meals and frozen products
Ronald Mascariñas, BAVI president, said this expansion caters to customers with no access to electricity and refrigeration.
BAVI’s live antibiotic-free chickens sell at P85 to P90 per kg.
BAVI is the largest rotisserie chicken company in the Philippines and the second-largest poultry integrator in the country, together with sister company Bounty Fresh Foods Inc. Its retail brands include Chooks-to-Go, Uling Roasters, Bounty Fresh and Adobo Connection.
Cargill Philippines, the local subsidiary of the global food and agriculture company, has also entered the retail space and stretches its service to commercial outlets and grocery stores to make its products available to more consumers in need.
In a statement, Cargill PH said it remained in operation to help ensure food production and supply in the country.
