Seven in 10 healthcare workers said better career opportunities drive them to work abroad, a survey showed.
The survey conducted by TrueProfile.io, a platform that provides Filipino healthcare professionals around the world with the tools they need to secure a career abroad, also showed 50 percent wanted to earn a higher salary.
The other factors cited are looking for more opportunities for medical specialization, 29 percent; looking for professional development, 24 percent ; support their family in the Philippines, 20 percent; wanted to travel and see the world, 17 percent ; looking for personal growth, 15 percent and; wanted better quality of life, 11 percent.
The results of the survey are not at all surprising, TrueProfile.io said.
The company cited National Healthcare System of the United Kingdom, considered one of the best globally, which provides professional development and career opportunities for healthcare workers.
Market-rate salaries are well above their expected rate in their home country.
In hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, healthcare professionals are given training opportunities which they can add to their credentials to make them attractive to future employers.
Aside from better career opportunities, Filipino healthcare workers in these countries enjoy numerous benefits such as high salaries, housing and transportation benefits and in some cases, reputable hospitals even offer bonuses upon contract completion and flight tickets annually or bi-annually.
