Basic Energy Corp. said it secured the support of key government agencies after it presented its Green Energy E-Transport Program (GEEP) plan to secure a minimum of 82 franchises for each province in the country for the deployment of electric buses (e-buses) to support the modernization of public utility vehicles.
The company said it gained the support of officials of the Department of Transportation and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board during a presentation made last month. Basic Energy did not provide further details.
Earlier, Basic Energy said under the GEEP, it will deploy 6,500 units of Class 2 e-buses.
The company intended to tap the National Electrification Administration to collaborate with distribution utilities to install 5 megawatts (MW) solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) each, to cover the electricity needs of e-buses deployed in each province.
Basic Energy will also tap key fuel retail stations for the installation of charging stations powered by solar power and BESS as well as service centers.
Among those Basic Energy will partner with include Eco Oil in Cainta, Rizal and Phoenix Petroleum in Vito Cruz, Manila.
Ecology Builders and Development Corp. (EBDC), an allied company of Basic Energy, will locally assemble the e-buses that will be sold to transport cooperatives and operators, with two models to choose from.
EBDC will also locally assemble multi-purpose e-vehicles to cater to various services, including delivery of goods, emergency response and entrepreneurial needs. – Jed Macapagal
