Vehicle sales rose 46 percent in the first seven months of the year to 154,265 units from 105,583 units sold in the same period in 2020.
A joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association showed that total vehicle sales for July 2021 reached 21,498 units, equivalent to 4.7 percent growth compared with the 20,542 units recorded in the same period last year.
However, this is 4.7 percent lower than the 22,550 units sold in June.
“The industry welcomed the year-on-year growth of 4.7 percent but anticipates a decline in sales this month with the reimposition of ECQ (enhanced community quarantine) in the National Capital Region, among other high-risk areas,” said Rommel Gutierrez, CAMPI president.
As of July, passenger car sales stood at 49,508 units, up 28 percent from 30,069 units sold a year ago.
Commercial vehicle sales rose 71 percent to 104,757 units from 75,514 units recorded last year.
