The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has conducted a total of 204 apprehensions so far this year, with seizures valued at P41.58 billion.
This was among the highlights reported by the BOC during the second command conference of the Department of Finance, alongside the Bureau of Internal Revenue.
The BOC said in a statement it was able to give updates on its anti-smuggling efforts, resulting in the condemnation of 8,816 cases of smuggled cigarettes valued at P595.22 million, and seizure of agricultural products worth P100 million.
Meanwhile, the bureau also said 10.19 billion liters of fuel were marked this year under the fuel marking program.
The BOC previously reported that it surpassed its revenue collection goal for the first half of the year by 2.98 percent as it raked in P455.8 billion from January to June.
The BOC has exceeded its midyear target of P442.62 billion by P13.18 billion.
Finance Secretary Ralph Recto commended the BOC’s performance in revenue collection, anti-smuggling efforts as well as its digital transformation initiatives, emphasizing the importance of their ongoing collaboration in achieving national economic goals.
“The BOC remains committed to improving operational efficiency, transparency and revenue generation through innovative practices and strategic partnerships,” Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said.
