Solar Philippines said it is on track to construct over 1,000 megawatts (MW) of solar projects next year in Batangas, Cavite, Nueva Ecija and Tarlac.
The company said these projects would be the first, second, and third largest solar projects in the Philippines as of date and can supply power to approximately 10 million Filipinos and create over 20,000 jobs during construction.
Once completed, the projects would give the company the largest single portfolio of solar projects in Southeast Asia by 2022 and will nearly double the country’s total installed solar capacity.
As of end-2019, the total on-grid installed capacity of solar power plants in the country is at 921 MW.
Solar Philippines said it will be bringing in partners and professionals in line with its new strategic direction.
Among the company’s recent partnerships are Korea Electric Power Corp’s involvement in the 63 MW solar farm in Batangas and the Razon Group’s Prime Infra to develop a pipeline of projects including a 200 MW solar project in Tarlac.
Solar Philippines has a total capacity of 250 MW. Its projects include the 2 MW solar-battery micro grid in Palauan, Occidental Mindoro, 1.5 MW rooftop power plant on SM North EDSA, 1.2 MW on Robinsons Place Palawan, 0.7 MW on Central Mall Biñan in Laguna and 0.6 MW on CityMall Roxas. – Jed Macapagal
