Manufacturers of 14 basic and prime commodities have asked for up to 10 percent increase in their suggested retail prices (SRP), according to Ruth Castelo, undersecretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Castelo said these products are canned sardines, condensed milk, evaporated milk, powdered milk, coffee refill, coffee 3-in-1, salt, instant noodles, bottled water, meat loaf, beef loaf, corned beef, toilet soap and battery.
She said the petitions have been tackled by the DTI but have yet to be approved.
Castelo said these are the products whose prices have not been granted adjustments or the increases was very small in the last SRP bulletin released last February.
She said manufacturers sought for increased due to higher cost of raw materials as well as packaging, fuel, logistics, and distribution.
These products cover 128 stock keeping units at present.
Castelo said not all covered by the price hike petitions.
