10K BPO jobs open for displaced tourism workers

Tourism workers displaced by the pandemic may soon find jobs in the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry which is opening up 10,000 employment slots.

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat of the Department of Tourist on Friday led a virtual regional job fair in partnership with Concentrix Philippines which opened job opportunities for tour guides and frontline service providers either for full-time, part-time and work-from-home arrangements in light of the new normal.

These include posts for customer service representatives, technical support representatives, frontline/ specialists, supervisors, trainers, managers, and others for the human resources and recruitment, finance, IT, and marketing sectors.

Concentrix Philippines vice president Amit Jagga said the skillset of the people in the hospitality industry are helpful for the company because of their ability to interact with foreign nationals and their customer service orientation

Concentrix operates in over 40 countries with 30 percent of its staff working from the Philippines.

Applicants must be at least high school graduates, can comfortably converse in English (knowledge of a foreign language is a plus), have good computer skills, have problem solving skills, and have a pleasant personality especially when dealing with multiple concerns.

The hiring process will be completed in less than 24 hours after a series of online interviews and assessments. Hired applicants will be compensated while on training.

The virtual regional job fair will be on September 22, 24, 29, and October 1 for Luzon; September 17, 18, and October 1 for Visayas and September 15 and 16 for Mindanao.
