The technical level of the Inter-agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases is now studying proposals to shorten the quarantine days of travelers to aid in the recovery of travel and transportation.
“For the government, the way we can help the travel sector is to have some kind of reopening, especially as many people get vaccinated Right now, under study is (a proposal) to lessen the number of quarantine days. These are small steps (to) bring back the demand,” Lopez said.
He said the proposal will be under consideration in this week’s or next week’s meeting of the IATF.
Airlines have proposed to reduce the current 10 days quarantine to five days, subject to other health protocols like RT-PCR tests.
“It’s a matter of time that we revive market conditions. We are in process of easing the restrictions as soon as possible to beef up demand,” Lopez said.
