The local government of Cavite is on track to finish this week the evaluation of the bid submitted by Lucio Tan’s MacroAsia Corp. and China Communications Constructions Co. Ltd. (CCCC) for the development of the $10-billion Sangley International Airport.
The Cavite government’s Public Private Partnership (PPP) selection committee is evaluating the proposal submitted by the joint venture which emerged as the sole bidder last December.
Jesse Grepo, legal officer and secretary of the local government’s PPP selection committee, said the body had issued the notice of qualification and expects to complete the results of the technical and financial proposal evaluation by the end of the month.
With this, the Cavite government is expected to award the project within the quarter if the sole bidder qualifies.
The long-term development of Sangley airport involves two pha2ses.
Phase 1 involves the construction of a single runway and a passenger terminal building with a capacity of 20 million passengers yearly. Phase 2 involves the completion of four runways and the expansion of passenger terminal that could accommodate up to 100 million passengers per year.
