With the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to  reassess  reclamation projects, the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA)  is ready to review  the design and submissions of  these reclamation projects,  according to Joseph John Literal, assistant general manager (AGM) of the Reclamation and Regulation Office of  the PRA.

This is if and when there are material  findings  on the  cumulative impact assessment on these reclamation projects being conducted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

At the Bagong Pilipinas television program, Literal said the PRA continues to review the ongoing reclamation projects.

Joselito Gonzales, AGM for Land Development, Construction Management and Technical Services of PRA, in the same program said   only two  reclamation projects were allowed to proceed and these are  in Pasay City.

Gonzales said the PRA  continuously studies  the impact of reclamation  projects especially after Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon that hit the country last month.

Literal said there are 22 projects nationwide that have been listed as reclamation projects but only 13 cover Region 3, National Capital Region and Region 4-A. Of that number, two were allowed.

According to Literal, proponents of reclamation projects are mandated to submit a feasibility study, an environment clearance certificate from the DENR, area clearance also from the DENR and a hydro dynamic modelling which contains the hydromorphological studies on the effect of the reclamation on the coastline and on the communities.
