Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual on January 16 kicked off the Philippines’ participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland exploring potential partnerships and harping on the ease of doing business in the country.
A press statement released by the Department of Trade and Industry said Pascual held bilateral meetings with senior executives of companies with business interests in the Philippines, such as Coursera, Chevron, Astranis, and She Loves Tech as well as officials of the WEF International Trade and Investment.
Pascual was expected to join the CEO Dialogue on the Philippines yesterday with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as the keynote speaker and where the country will highlight the administration’s initiatives on energy, food security, and digitalization to add resilience and growth momentum to the country’s economy through public-private collaboration.
“We have met with several business executives and presented our country as an ideal investment destination in Asia. We shared with them our improved business climate, which was fueled by the recent economic policy reforms that facilitate ease of doing business,” said Pascual.
Pascual said the WEF is an opportunity to gather more foreign direct investments.
Pascual’s appearances will be at the WEF sessions on MSMEs Going Global, Next Generation Industrial Strategies, and a Trade and Investment Leadership Lunch as well as the ministerial-level meetings of the World Trade Organization on E-Commerce, Investment Facilitation for Development, and Climate Change. – Irma Isip
