At least P29.5 billion is needed for total energization by 2028, according to the National Electrification Administration (NEA).

The agency said P1.5 million is required on the average to energize a sitio.

As of end-November 2022, electrification rate stood at 92 percent with 13 million customers connected and a million more unserved  based on 2015 national census.

As of end-December last year, some 6,888 sitios were considered energized and 10,212 unenergized and targeted to be connected from this year until 2028.

Bulk of the P29.5 billion funding requirement or P20.8 billion will be for the sitio electrification program and P2.38 billion is for the barangay line enhancement program meant to improve existing lines and cater additional load demand.

NEA allotted P4.9 billion for joint ventures, grants and other programs for the period as P568 million is needed for mainstreaming the program on the use of solar power projects and P900 million for pursuing micro grid and hybridization programs of electric cooperatives (ECs).

Of the P29.5 billion, only P23.01 billion will be sourced from the national government with the rest to be filled together with the private sector.

s would be mindful to support the budget for this national program of the government,” said

Antonio Mariano Almeda, NEA administrator, expressed confident it will secure the support of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Department of Energy and Congress in seeking funding requirement.
