The Maharlika Investment Corp. (MIC) has expressed willingness to fund at least 10 percent and up to 20 percent of equity of the flagship projects of the Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC), according to CIAC president Arrey Perez.
Perez told the Bagong Pilipinas on PTV-4 yesterday MIC president and chief executive officer Rafael Consing Jr. expressed this during the signing early this month of a memorandum of understanding where the agency will explore investment opportunities for the CIAC’s major infrastructure and development projects in Clark.
“MIC president Consing said these projects should be funded by the government,” Perez said, adding MIC’s equity will boost the confidence of private sector to participate in these projects.
“This demonstrates the viability of the projects,” Perez said.
First on the list of projects to be funded is the establishment of the Clark National Food Hub .
Perez said the Asian Development Bank has been tapped to be the technical advisor for the project which will be auctioned and awarded under a public-private partnership by 2025.
Another project highlighted by Perez is the World Convention and Events Hub which will harness the full potential of the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions market.
He said two proponents have expressed interest in the project.
The third is the Urban Renewal and Heritage Conservation Project which among others will involve the establishment of a catch basin similar to Bonifacio Global City which will harvest rainwater for use of other industries of Clark.
