The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said it has completed two out of three sub-projects of the P6.4-billion Flood Risk Management Project for Cagayan River, Tagoloan River, and Imus River (FRIMP-CTI ) funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
The DPWH said the installation of Alibago and Catanggaman revetments, and Catanggaman Spur dike which is included in the scope of works of the P2.1-billion Cagayan River Basin was completed in November 2019.
The P789-million Tagoloan River Basin, on the other hand, saw the completion of its dike system, drainage improvement, drainage channel, as well as a non-structural intervention like excavation in July 2019.
These completed sub-projects of FRIMP-CTI now benefit flood-vulnerable communities of Tuguegarao City and municipality of Enrile in Cagayan, and municipality of Tagoloan in Misamis Oriental.
Meanwhile, the construction of dikes, drainage sluices, and retarding basins of the P1.5-billion Imus and Bacoor River Basin is ongoing and already 52.3 percent completed as of December 2019.
The third component of FRIMP-CTI in Cavite is expected to be completed by November 2020 and will benefit the low-lying areas in Imus City and Bacoor City.
