Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP) aborted a possible work stoppage when government facilitated the release from the port of nearly a thousand units of vehicles.
In a press statement, the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) said TMP had sought the assistance of the agency and of the Board of Investments in getting its shipments released.
ARTA said TMP cited technical difficulties with the Manila International Container Port in securing clearance to sell their 984 completely knocked-down units which led to a six-day delay in transmitting their certificate of payment to the Land Transportation Office and halting the sale of units.
ARTA said it immediately referred the matter to Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio who then ordered the release of the shipment.
ARTA said Rommel Gutierrez, first vice president of Corporate Affairs Group of TMP, told the agency in a letter the prompt response has prevented a potential interruption in the company’s operations.– Irma Isip
