The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) recently turned over two irrigation projects worth P66.7 million to two irrigators associations (IAs) in the Municipality of Columbio, Sultan Kudarat.
The projects, funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency, are the P56.9-million Dalol communal irrigation system (CIS) and the P9.8-million Macadiz small irrigation project (MIP).
NIA said the Dalol CIS included diversion works to repair wearing of surface, protection works, canalization, canal structures and terminal facilities while the Macadiz SIP involved diversion works, protection works, canalization, canal structures and terminal facilities.
The two projects will irrigate a total of 517 hectares of agricultural land.
Eduardo Ebdane, president of the Colundibus Communal IA, said the projects will ensure year-round irrigation for their crops, resulting to higher yield.
