The nine local government units (LGUs) that have fully automated their business registration process for both new and renewal, saw a collective increase in revenue collection for the periods of 2021 to 2022, according to Ernesto Perez. Director-general of the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA).

Perez told members of the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines Inc. in a forum last week  these are the cities of Quezon, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Marikina, Manila, Navotas, Lapu-Lapu and Cagayan De Oro.

Perez’ presentation showed revenues of these cities climbed 7 percent to P23.32 billion in 2022 from P21.72 billion in 2021

Perez said 518 out of 1,634 LGUs have reported automation in their Business One Stop Shops (eBOSS).

The Ease of Doing Business Act or Republic Act 11032  mandates LGUs to set up eBoss where citizens and entrepreneurs can access various government services and submit their applications online, thereby reducing the need for physical visits, simplifying the process, and saving valuable time and resources.

Age 9 LGUs  were validated to be fully compliant with the five core features of the eBOSS.

These are: accept online or electronic submission of application; provide gateway facility linked to courier service where applicant prefers hard copy; accept online payments;  issue electronically the tax bill/order of payment  and; issue electronic versions of permits, licenses and clearances. – Irma Isip
