Cebu Pacific Air Inc. expects to be a 4,000-strong airline company as it calls on previously retrenched crew back to work.
Lance Gokongwei, Cebu Air president, said the company is prioritizing the staff it had to retrench at the height of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020. It had to let go of 1,300 employees then.

“We made a commitment to our people that we will prioritize them and that’s what we’re trying to do,” he said.
Gokongwei said the 4,000 headcount does not include staff for anciliary services of the budget carrier.
Gokongwei said Cebu Air’s operations are slowly flying to pre-COVID levels, at least for the domestic operations.
“Internationally, you can see a lot of countries, specially Southeast Asia opening up,” he also said.
Gokongwei said as more countries open, Cebu Air’s prospects will be more attractive.
“We think Japan will open up soon and early next year hopefully Hong Kong and China, and Macau,” he said.
