Eight of 10 Filipinos are interested in going into business if they had enough capital, according to the OCTA Research.
A survey conducted in October 2022, the results of which were shared by Go Negosyo, showed across socioeconomic classes, the percentage is high at 80 percent among classes ABC and D, and 74 percent from class E.
The survey also found that more than half, or 53 percent were aware of the advocacy of Go Negosyo.
The program founded by businessman Joey Concepcion was seen either as a partner, or a supporter, of small businesses/enterprises by 52 percent of adult Filipinos, or as one that teaches how to run a business by 47 percent of adult Filipinos.
The survey involved 1,200 respondents aged 18 years and older, covering socioeconomic classes AB, C, D and E.
Go Negosyo provides mentoring and access to markets and capital for budding entrepreneurs.
“The recent survey by our friends at OCTA Research found that a big percentage of Filipinos are willing to go into business, and that more than half of the respondents are aware of the advocacy Go Negosyo team ha(s) been promoting. It is so important to build the MSME’s optimism and the willingness to engage in the economy,” said Concepcion.
Concepcion said with MSMEs accounting for more than 62 percent of job generation, helping the country’s MSMEs grow will redound to more jobs across the country.
Concepcion was appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as the lead of the jobs cluster of the Private Sector Advisory Council.
