4 ‘most-complained’ agencies take action

The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) said the five government agencies which get the most number of complaints from the public have committed to introduce processes that will ease doing business in their operations.

The body yesterday conducted a follow-up meeting with representatives of four of the five most complained government agencies named by President Duterte during his 2019 State of the National Address, the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Social Security System, Land Transportation Office and the Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG. The fifth, Land Registration Authority, was not represented in the meeting.

Jeremiah Belgica, director-general of the ARTA, at the meeting stressed the need for a paradigm shift on how the government should approach things.

Belgica said the four agencies discussed significant improvements on their processes and presented their reform agenda to address the issues in their systems and procedures which were raised on the initial meeting.

The meeting held at the Board of Investments in Makati City aimed to gather updates from the agencies on the streamlining of systems and procedures and on the status of their complaints mechanism

During the initial meeting held in August, representatives from the give agencies presented to ARTA the reasons for the mounting complains; the most problematic transactions and choke points; solutions and actions to remedy the foregoing; as well as their grievance mechanisms and processes in resolving complaints from the public.
