The Rotary Club of Metro Marikina (RCMM) donated a state-of-the-art neonatal incubator system to Casimiro A. Ynares Sr. Medical Hospital to dramatically improve care for premature and critically ill newborns.
The ₱1,940,000 project, called “Kandungang Kalinga ng Sanggol” (Infant Care Support System Project), operates under Global Grant #2347884 and addresses the hospital’s challenges in providing adequate newborn care due to high patient volumes.
“The donation will help reduce infant mortality rates and promote healthy growth and development to the most vulnerable patients – the babies. We are optimistic that our recipient hospital can now provide more effective and higher quality care to premature babies,” said District 3800 Governor Bobby Zamora.
The Casimiro A. Ynares Sr. Medical Hospital, a major healthcare facility in Rizal, has been struggling to meet demand for neonatal care services.
“With the additional neonatal unit, we are hopeful that this equipment, which is essential for maintaining the temperature and humidity levels required for the survival and well-being of premature babies, represents a vital role for new life to families in our nearby communities,” said Chief of Hospital Dr. Grace Lagarejos.
The equipment was officially handed over on February 17, 2025, in a ceremony led by Governor Zamora, PDG Augie Soliman, District Secretary Dan Santos, District Service Projects Chair Noel Cuico, RCMM President Vivian Abaya, and international sponsor representatives from Rotary Club of Suncheon Dream, District 3610 South Korea: PDG Oh Jae Dae, PP Lee Yeon, and President Choi Je Yeong.

“We hope that with the continued support of the Rotary Foundation, we can further strengthen our capacity to provide relevant projects in our community. We look forward to embark more projects that promote health and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve,” said RCMM President Abaya, a former nurse.
The initiative began during Past President Aleli Evangelista’s term and was completed this Rotary year. The donation includes two (2) infant incubators, one (1) portable ventilator, four (4)infusion pumps, two (2) heavy-duty suction machines, two(2) neonatal silicone ambubags, one(1) ECG machine, two (2) pulse oximeters, two (2) fetal dopplers, one (1) laryngoscope set, and comprehensive staff training.
