In a significant step to strengthen financial inclusion in the Philippines, CARD Bank made history by opening its first-ever Islamic Branch in January 2024, marking a milestone not only for the institution but also for the country’s Muslim community.
CARD Bank remains steadfast in its commitment to inclusive finance by offering services that align with Islamic financial principles. Muslim individuals can now access financial products and services that respect their culture and faith.
After more than a year, a total of 5,438 clients have already benefited from these inclusive banking services. They can avail themselves of a wide range of Shari’ah-compliant financial products to establish their business and secure the future of their family. A total of nearly PHP 14.5 million in financing was disbursed in May 2025, while total savings exceeded PHP 24 million.
Offered financial products include Wadiah-based deposit accounts such as Wadiah Basic Savings, Wadiah Regular Savings, and Wadiah ATM Savings. Financing is provided under “Murabahah” and “Musharakah” for Micro-Agri and Micro-Enterprise needs, as well as “Murabahah 2” for Supplemental Commodity Financing. These are all in strict compliance with Islamic finance law.
This bold move underscores CARD Bank’s vision of empowering every Filipino, regardless of their background or beliefs, by providing culturally sensitive and ethical financial services. The Islamic Branch has also opened three Branch Lite Units (BLUs) to better serve neighbouring municipalities.
CARD Bank continues to strengthen its presence in Mindanao, further expanding its programs to reach more Muslim communities and bring them financial empowerment.
With the opening and expansion of the Islamic Branch, CARD Bank reaffirms its mission of providing financial services that uplift lives.
